What
happens when a group of 5 pastors’ wives in southern Sweden get gifted with
some funds from people in America who care about cross cultural workers? We went away ~

| Let the WOW begin!!! |
WOW (Women’s
Outing for Worship) happened at a “beautiful house right by the sea” (that was
the advert from Airbnb). We arrived with
sunshine, watched the reflections of the sunset reflected on the sea that was stretched
out in front of us, just meters away from our front door. We laughed in the kitchen as my Swedish
friend learned how to take off the skins of the chickpeas ("this is the way Barb
does it, so I guess I have to do it this way," was what she said!). We ate a hearty chickpea, pomegranate,
spinach, quinoa, avocado with maple syrup Dijon mustard salad dressing, healthy
bread (including gluten free options for friends who needed not to deal with
gluten), and laughed together as we prepared food, cleaned tables, washed
dishes, and just hung out together.

Fast
forward to later that evening, when we sat around the TV and thanks to the
internet and YouTube, we were able to worship using songs that each of us had
chosen for worship. Why we chose a
particular song, what it has meant or means to us, and what the Bible and
specifically what Jesus teaches about getting sabbath rest was the focus of the
evening.

The next
morning, we were sure thankful that we had enjoyed a beautiful view of the sea
spread out in front of us, because the view on Saturday morning was…..well, let’s
just say that the fog was out in overabundance!
No sea with a view, but we had another amazing meal together (complete
with “you order what you want” personalized omelets), a birthday cake thrown in
for fun (I mean, why shouldn’t we have operatårta for breakfast the day before
someone’s birthday??!). (Google operatårta
if you don’t know what it is….think princess tårta with pink colored marzipan frosting!)
