They did it all!

Mid January 2019….Weseykyrkan welcomes 2 young female interns in our midst.  They were part of the Acts 29 Discipleship program that Equmeniakyrkan offers for young people.  A chance to get out and serve in the world, live together, eat together, study God’s Word together, learn together, have fun together.  Our interns came from a bit further north, so they really enjoyed getting to learn the Skåne accent (the accent of southern Sweden, Skåne is the region’s name and the accent is heavily influenced by our Danish neighbors just across the water).

Barb’s first impression when she met them in late January:  they have such a difficult accent to understand!  How is this going to work?  Will we work together well as a team?  What are our responsibilities?  Will they be patient and want to speak English with us when we need a break from Swedish?

All those questions, perhaps some of them even identified as fears, were tossed out the door as soon as we all rolled up our sleeves and jumped into the work of the church.
Remembering all that we learned together in 5 months
They did it all!
Leva Livet (our version of söndagskola, Sunday School)
LAJF (their brainchild; the program that happened the week before Easter with 22+ kids coming daily to church for Lek (games), Aktiviteter (you can guess that one), Jesus (you can also guess that one!), and Fest (I’ll help you with that one:  party!)
Tisdagstraff (the weekly afternoon fika and program for senior citizens)
Språkcafé (our weekly Swedish language café for foreigners, like Steve and Barb, and refugees and any others who want to work on their Swedish language skills)
TJIF (Thank Jesus It’s Friday, the kids program for kids ages 7-12)
JAM (Jesus and Me, the teens program at church)
Öppen kyrkan (a week in May when we kept the doors of the church open from 9am-9pm)
Monthly prayer meetings for the city of Malmö
Weekly staff meetings
Bön och bröd (our Monday midday pause for prayer and a bowl of soup)

And the list goes on!
Our hearts were filled with sadness as their time with us came to an end on June 2.  Time to go back to school for one final week of training, debriefing, and celebration with their Acts 29 leaders and fellow students.  But before they left…..
Tag team preaching and hoodies!

Blessing after they've just been blessed...

The team in action for communion
They knocked our socks off by preaching and serving communion to our community.
Ah, we are so blessed!

They did it all…
~with compassion
~with great joy
~without complaining
~with love for their Savior Jesus

Bra Jobbat, tjejer!!
Last moments as a team ~ Limhamn looks good on them!

One happy pastor....and pastor's family.  Look at all that chocolate!
