Summer wrap up 2019

It’s almost mid September as I’m writing today, and the chill in the air these last days keeps reminding us that summer is done.  Time to put away the bright summer flowery sweaters and shorts and bring on the fall sweaters and long sleeves and, soon enough, the winter jackets and boots.  Oh yeah, and start taking mega doses of Vitamin D as we watch the sun go down earlier and come up later every day now!

A short recap of summer 2019 would look like this….
~gorgeous weather
Whether in the US, in Minnesota....

....or in Tjönarp, in Skåne Sweden.....

summer 2019 offered weather to remember!
~lots of fun guests
All hands on deck to bake the midsommar tårta

When it looks this good, you have to put on a parade!

The instructions were to put bunny ears on your favorite person at the table... checkout what Steve is doing in the far back with Maddie the dog...

They were stranded on an island....

~meeting Barb’s family in Värmland (about 6 hours north from us in Malmö)
So many times we were reminded of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northern Minnesota as we walked around in the countryside of Värmland

We called it the Hobbit cottage, since we had to really duck down through the small door in order not to bang our heads going in or out....totally charming!!!

Steve trying to play the saw....

~last days of vacation in Belgium for a dear friend’s wedding
Didn't buy anything, but we did swing by Van Gastel's just for a look around...

Hotel room with a view ~ south Antwerp

These two clean up pretty well ~ fun to watch them in action again!

Those happy campers!

You've come a long way, beautiful one!

Fika at an exquisite chocolate museum in the Ardennes ~ mixing the best of both of my European ministry worlds.....chocolate and fika!
Time to jump into fall!
Bring on the cozy sweaters, fall leaves, crisp air and loads of apples.
No pumpkin spice latte at the coffee shops here, though.
This is Sweden, don’t forget.
So coffee is coffee.
Chocolate is chocolate.
You don’t mix the two together.
You can drink your coffee while you savor a piece of chocolate.
And they just don’t do pumpkin spice latte.
