Our journey home

So, when one travels north in Sweden to teach, and one decides that it's best not to take the train like one had planned because of corona virus times, one ends up taking a road trip that included several surprises along the way.  We drove up one side of Lake Vättern, on the west side, and came home down the east side of the lake.  A huge disappointment that accompanied this road trip was that we were just about an hour away from Barb's grandmother's family, in Värmskog, in this region known as Värmland.  But in light of the corona virus, and wanting to protect Barb's mom's cousins who are both 90+, we just sent our greetings with the hope of making another trip in some future date when it's all safe for us to be together.

Here are a few fun photos from this road trip.
A beautiful walk through a cemetery on the pilgrim's way

Though it was raining in Karlskoga when we left, the sun was out in full bloom when we arrived in Vadstena.  Lovely!

Swedish lace with a Belgian connection ~ how unique for us!

We stopped for midday prayers at the Swedish Lutherna church in Vadstena.  Words of this song were especially poignant:  Look to God, be not afraid.  Life up your voices, the Lord is near!

Got out to stretch our legs in Gränne.  We didn't need fika, but we sure did stop in the "Polka" candy store.  This town is known for this candy, peppermints.  This photo is in front of the Equmeniakyrkan, which was already closed due to corona.

A lakeview ~
