Fikaing our way through summer 2021

Okay, for the record, I don’t believe the word “fikaing” actually exists!  Spellcheck is underlining the word in red, which means there’s something wrong with it.  And if I do a spellcheck, it doesn’t give me many options for how to correct the word.  But let’s just say, for the purpose of this post that is a mix of Swedish (fika) and English (ing), that fikaing does, in fact, exist.

Fika with a view ~ technically, this was lunch...

Fika….that all important break in the day when you take a break from whatever task you’re doing and pause and consider.  It usually involves a cup of coffee ~ or tea, or just plain water if need be ~ and something to enjoy.  Which can be a kardemummbulle (a cardamon roll) or kaneelbulle (a cinnamon roll).  Or a piece of fruit….or a piece of blueberry cheesecake.

When a new Danish smörgås (sandwich) shop opens up just down the street from church.....supporting the local economy!

Yes, the flower was edible!

Rhubarb cake with vanilla sauce....whoever would have thought to add pomegranate seeds for crunch?  This, my friends, was an exquisite fika!  No talk about work while we enjoyed this treat :-)

Needless to say, as you can see in the photos, we had many moments to fika.

It always involves community.

No talk about work.

Just hanging out.

Food and beverage involved.

Life.

Fika anyone??

Free fika provided by nature while on a walk by the sea with a friend.  Priceless!!!
