Celebrating Steve

Steve sneaked in another birthday in May (66 to be exact, for those who are wondering ~ and we know you’re out there!).  Life was just plain busy in May, but we did manage to slip away for an overnight and day hike in Småland at the Åsnen National Park: https://www.sverigesnationalparker.se/en/choose-park---list/asnen-national-park/

It was so incredibly beautiful to hike the trails, stay off the path of Sweden’s poisonous snake, and appreciate God’s nature.

Yeah, so Sweden has one poisonous snake.  And we managed to sneak past this bad boy while on the path.  So thankful for Steve and his wilderness ways that he learned growing up in Minnesota.  His comment on the path: "did you see that poisonous snake back there?"  Obviously Barb hadn't seen it, or there would have been a bit more drama :-)

Bonus: Barb managed to find a B&B, actually being attracted to the name of the place: La Maison Rouge (French for the red house).  What an absolute delight to be welcomed by Pär (Swedish businessman) and his French bride Caroline.  A farm with a huge red house in the middle of a tiny village in Blekinge, the next region just north of Skåne.  Fun to celebrate!

Steve in his happy place in the woods.  All that green ground cover you see in this picture...yeah, those are Swedish wild blueberries.  Too bad we were hiking in May...

Picking up some gardening ideas as we visited in shops along the way ~

Afternoon fika that awaited us at La Maison Rouge.  Priceless!
