Praise as it happens in Antwerp, Belgium
Since its' origin, Lifeline Belgium has been expanding their vision to worship God through music and the Word of God, the Bible. I (Barb) have been wanting to participate in one of their Praise Events (they happen about twice a year), to be in a room full of young people lifting up the name of Jesus through worship music...
Think like a Christian concert with lots of loud music and lights!
Add to that good teaching and preaching...
Add to that some booths around the room, offering info about different ministries going on in Antwerp and in Flandres, the Flemish speaking part of Belgium…
Add to that some food (apparently, we heard that it used to be free food but with over 800+ young people coming out to each event, they are now charging a small fee for food a drink ~ fair enough!)…
It was a night to remember.
We were hanging out in the back of the catholic church that they now rent in one of the most diverse immigrant neighborhoods in the city with a friend ~ having a lovely time catching up after years of not having seen each other ~ when another friend, one of the leaders, advised us to go up front. We would have “a different worship experience”, our friend recommended. And true enough, we did.
In the back of the second largest catholic church in Antwerp, we were just spectators. But up front…we were in the midst of the most amazing worship experience of God ~ and the enthusiasm in the room was so palpable!!!!! Some familiar songs, some songs we sing in worship in Swedish that we didn’t even know existed in English, some new songs, young people giving their lives over to Jesus as they seek the truth.
It was so good to be in the room!
