XPLORE!!!

XPLORE ~ the southern region of Sweden’s program for kids ages 7-12.

It happens twice a year that we gather the kids for fun and games, where everyone ages 7-12 is welcome to join in on the fun.  Add to that group the teenagers, who take charge of the music and games.  Add to that group the local adult volunteers who take care of the food. And a good time is had by all!

 

Theme of the day:  Att följa Jesus ~ following Jesus.  At each station that we rotated to, the kids were challenged by a Bible character who shared their relationship to Jesus.  And then, of course, there were games to be played to apply what we were learning at the station.  Brilliant!

 

We sang together.

We laughed together.

We ran around together.

We ate 4 times together in the course of one day (FIKA!!!  It’s the staple of any Swedish event, and a day long kids’ program included two fikas, lunch, and supper).

We crafted together.

We played games together.

We listened to Bible studies together.

We listened to young people share their missions’ experiences through the ACTS 29 program.

We worship God together in song, reading the Word of God (Bible), and moving around in the room to different stations where we all were allowed to light a candle, or share a word of thanks/help/sorry to God.

 

It was a good day.

Fun true story:  We were 5 in the car (2 adults, and 3 of our funnest ever kids from Wesleykyrkan).  On the way going up in the car, we listened to our favorite kids’ worship songs on Spotify.  But on the way coming home….the giggles and the songs sung on their own helped us get all the way home!
