Sunday School in a box ~ Wesleykyrkan style
I(Barb) don’t like to have to admit when I’ve been a thief, but we did in fact, “steal” an idea about Sunday School in a box from one of our ministry partner churches in Minnesota. Afterwards, I googled the concept “Sunday school in a box” and there are all kinds of ideas out there. So, tweak it a bit, translate it into Swedish, ask a couple of volunteers to offer their ideas, throw in a free meal, and voilà…loads of fun in the sun for our kids during their Påsklov (Easter holiday).
We were having a little bit of fun as we went shopping....no, we didn't buy the flamingo on a headband! Making the list and checking it twice....actually three or four times, since we didn't want to forget any of our kids! We divided and conquered ~ two age groups, big and little boxes, big kid and little kids Easter story books and an activity book just for fun... The assembly line... We're almost there as we wrapped the books separately from the boxes...so thankful for extra pairs of hands that helped make it all go so smoothly!

Leva Livet Låda.
Leva Livet (live life) is the name of the curriculum that we’re using at our local church for our kids ages 3-9.
Låda is the Swedish word for a box.
So we met for lunch, supporting a newly opened restaurant called Yalla Trappan (Yalla = Arabic for hurry hurry!, trappan = Swedish for the stairs). So, hurry up the stairs! Yummy food, covid safe environment that allowed us the chance to dream, plan, think about what would be fun for kids ages 2-12 in a box. Not just entertainment but also a service project ~ making a card to encourage the elderly and shut-ins in our church.
All packed and ready to deliver ~ this was a fun project for sure.
Thanks, Excelsior Covenant, MN ~ Sunday School in a box is a great idea, no matter what language! At the end of the day, after Steve and I had delivered all the boxes, he said his favorite part of the day had been seeing the big smiles on the kids’ faces as they received their boxes. We also received loads of pictures from thankful parents as their children literally ripped into the boxes and books about the story of Easter.

Sunday School in a box.
So much fun to help the littlest among us feel like they haven't been forgotten in the midst of this crazy pandemic. Longing for real Leva Livet!
