SL Gothenburg style

Sharing Lives…that important ministry tool that we have taught now in 6 different settings across Skåne (our southernmost region of Sweden).  And now, in November, we took our course materials, already translated and approved in Swedish, along with books and other resources, and left the region of Skåne and went one region further north to Västergötland and taught the course in the Sävedalenkrykan in Göteborg ~ along the west coast of Sweden.

A creative way to use IKEA infant high chairs when what one really needs is a taller table to use for projecting notes from the computer!

The table has been set....and the world fed all the participants!  Our first session included luncheon cuisine from a local Iraqi restaurant!

Sharing Lives….still is one of our favorite ministry tools.  The course is designed to help those of us who are already following Jesus to overcome our fears and prejudices related to people coming from other countries, other languages, and other religious backgrounds.  It keeps pointing people back to “What does the Bible say?”  ~ or for Missions Friends of the Evangelical Covenant Church (our church home)….”where is it written?”

The Bosnian "soda" (pop) that accompanied the meal was a lot like the Swedish Julmust beverage...which, if you use your imagination, tastes a bit like root beer...
The food was amazing!  Barb was able to tap into her Slavic (former Yugoslavia) roots as the grill was prepared by Bosnian new friends!

We have some fun along the way as we go deep in conversation, learn some new and fascinating facts and we all come away with new tips on how to share Jesus with our world.  And the longer we teach this course, we become more aware that this material isn’t just designed to welcome those from other religious traditions.  It’s becoming increasingly more adaptable to those who, like so many in our world here in Sweden, come from an a-religious tradition.  Thankful to God for the wheel which has already been invented.  We just enjoy sharing the story.  Of how God is so faithful and really intends that each one of us living here on earth should know the truth about Jesus!

The wheel has already been invented....we're not reinventing, but are so thankful for the tools available to us to help the church grow more in grace and understanding!
